This events week we’re delighted to have a number of our graduates returning to Middlesex. They’ll be talking to our current students about their work, professional practice and life as an illustrator out in the field- Can’t wait to hear what they’ve been up to!
Alex Foster is an illustrator based in the seaside town of Margate, UK.
He has worked with a variety of clients on a range of projects including Hallmark/M&S cards, Tote bags for Talented, books for The Poetry Society and the Folkestone triennial, as well as Illustrated area maps and posters displayed on the South Bank and London Underground.

Emma Block’s first book, Tea and Cake, came out in 2011, and she has just started working on her third children’s book.
Emma’s work is inspired by the people she meets in her everyday life, old photos, vintage clothes, old films, travel, 1950s illustration, 1930s jazz and sausage dogs. She has worked for clients including UNIQLO, Orla Kiely, Anthropologie, Random House Canada, Harper Collins, teNeues, Hardie Grant, Blue Apple Books, Hand in Hand Soap, Mollie Makes, The British Heart Foundation, Time Out, Trader Joes, Woodmansterne, Madison Park Greetings, Hallmark and American Greetings. She also works with Jolly Edition to create beautiful bespoke wedding stationery.

James Boast is a freelance illustrator based in London. He has worked with The Guardian, Esquire, Easyjet Traveller, New York Times, Sunday Times, VCCP, Wired (UK) and the Wall Street Journal.

Stacie Swift is an illustrator and designer who has established her own business designing greetings cards, stationary, art prints and custom illustrations. She also runs a series of seminars on Social Media for Business, Creative Start-Ups and Illustration as a Career.
