As part of her final year 3rd yr student HANNAH CARWARDINE has created a series of images illustrating an editorial about the unearthing of King Richard III’s remains. Richard was killed in battle in 1485, an event which singled the ended the War of the Roses;

EXHIBTION: POETRY RE-VIEWED

Tonight sees the opening of our latest exhibition at the Poetry Society Cafe in Covent Garden. POETRY RE-VIEWED features illustration by our students inspired by the poems in the winter issue of The Poetry Review.

The exhibition features paintings, prints and paper cut-outs and runs from February 5th – March 16th. All works are for sale; proceeds go towards the students’ final degree show.

In a recent brief our 2nd year students were given the task of creating a series of artists’ booked based on a number. This number would not only be the theme of their outcomes but was also the quantity of books the students would need to produce to fulfil the brief;

In their latest project our 1st year students were introduced to working in Adobe Illustrator with a brief tasking them with designing a t-shirt. Their initial drawings were vectorised, cut out on hot press vinyl and applied with a hot press. Below are just some of the final results;

Graduate HOLLY EXLEY has been freelancing since graduating from the course in 2010. As well as  being a prolific illustrator with clients including Classic FM, The Wall Street Journal and Marks & Spencer, Holly also produces a series of vlogs sharing her experiences as a working artist. With subjects ranging from how to attract clients and tips on pricing, these videos are a valuable source of advice to anyone pursuing a career as an illustrator- including new students;
