Graduate DIONNE KITCHING recently exhibited as part of COME TOGETHER, the latest exhibition by the AOI at The Printspace Gallery. From two individuals in an intimate embrace, or crowds joining in the celebration, the show featuered work celebrating what it means to be together in our world.

STAFF NEWS: MA SHOW

Graduates and GAA’s SHAZLEEN KHAN and ALEX MOORE will both be exhibiting in Middlesex University’s  Children’s Bool Illustration and Graphic Novels MA end of year show. Shazleen, who is graduating this year, will be displaying work from ANATHEMA her FMP graphic novel exploring the friendships and shifting relationships between a class of girls studying at a school of magic as well as her comics and picture books this year.

Alex, who will be graduating next year, will be showing work from her picture book WHAT WOLVES DO, as well as THUNDERBIRD, a short comic about hitmen, guilty consciences and bad tattoos.

STUDENT WORK: HOUSE OF ILLUSTRATION CHALLENGE

This September the HOUSE OF ILLUSTRATION asked artists and illustrators to do a one-inch drawing for each day of the month inspired by John Vernon Lord who, in 2016, did a drawing for every single day of the year.

Several of our students took on the 30 day challenge including ELLEN KNOWLES  and LORRAINE ANSELL– bellow are some of the illustrations they created for the brief;

GRADUATE NEWS: SECRET 7″

Since 2012 SECRET 7″ has held an open competiton, inviting artists to create sleeve artwork for seven selected tracks. Out of these 700  will be selected and exhibited with the records and their illustrated sleeves being sold for a chosen charity.

We are delighted to say that gaduates JAMES BOAST, CHARLOT KRISTENSEN and LUKE SPICER were all selected for this year’s show. You can check out their illustrations below;

STUDENT NEWS: D&AD AWARDS

We are delighted to announce that 3rd year student COURTENEY HORAN has been selected as one of the winners of this year’s D&AD Hotel Indigo Brief for her Behind the Suite concept. Drawing on the rich cultural history of the lower East Side, this concept sees images from the city’s past projected onto the faces of the hotels. Below are the full set of illustration;
